A long time resident of the District, Joe Runions is pictured
(left) with Cathy Jolly, a former State Representative and former
member of the City Council in Kansas City, representing
South Kansas City in the 6th District At-Large.
Cathy has endorsed and is actively supporting Joe in his
campaign for State Representative in this open seat. She
says, “I have known and worked with Joe for many years. He
is a neighbor we know and can trust. Joe is unquestionably
the best qualified candidate to represent us in Jefferson City
and I hope everyone will give him their vote on August 7 in
the Democratic Primary.”
This is a new state legislative district, created as a result of
state re-districting following the census in 2010. District 37
encompasses all of Grandview, parts of South Kansas City, a
small section of Lees Summit and a very small part of Cass
County in Raymore.
Joe is also pictured with Jason Holsman, current State Representative
in South Kansas City/Grandview, who is a candidate
for State Senate in the August 7 Democratic Primary.
In his endorsement of Joe, Jason says, “I’ve known Joe for
a long time. I’ve been impressed with what he has been
able to accomplish in the Ward he represents in Grandview,
completing many major projects over the past four years
alone, including improvements on Grandview Road between
Blue Ridge and Main Street; the new 2nd and 3rd Streets between
Blue Ridge and Main; 139th Street, from 15th Street
to Botts Road; and securing an $800,000 grant for engineering
on the railroad trestle on Blue Ridge. Joe knows how to
get things done and we can count on him to perform for our
district.”
